Isle of Man DH Round 4 Ballaugh Plantation 2 20/06/2010
Gareth Fargher took another Downhill victory at Ballaugh Plantation on sunday establishing himself
as one of the Islands fastest Downhill Racers.
The track was bone dry making parts of it very loose, drifty & suprisingly challenging,but with no
wet roots or rocks to negotiate,it also made most of it very very fast.

Isle of Man DH Round 3 Ballaspit Farm 30/05/2010
Fantastic weather ensured all the riders enjoyed one of the best tracks ever at Ballaspit Farm.
The attraction of this race is the steep hillsides & with no trees to hit,its always taken as
fast as possible. As usual,the riders first had to negotiate the steep side of the fields,zig
zagging through the gorse bushes, then crossing the fields there are several big jumps of old
stone walls giving the many photographers plenty to aim at. Then it is a scary blast down the
slate chute before a few pedal strokes & another slate descent & a sprint to the finish line.
Young Sam Cotlett had a fantastic days racing on sunday,taking the runners up spot in the junior
category.

Isle of Man DH Round 2 Arrasey Plantation 02/05/2010
The fast and dusty(!) arrasey track made for a great days racing. With roots, rocks, jumps and the brilliant rough
descent proved popular with the riders and marshals alike.
The junior race saw Matthew Clague take a great win, which took him to 11th overall, by 14 seconds from Cai Illingworth.
Callum Purves was third with debut racer calum Johnson (me) in fourth.

Turner Takes Another Win
Isle of Man DH Round 1 Ballaugh Plantation 11/04/2010
Good weather,a good turnout & good racing meant a good start to the 2010 downhill mountain bike series.
The track 'monster T' is a big favourite with the Manx riders as its tight,fast & technical through the
trees,with very fast decents over the roots & rocks & plenty of off camber sections,berms & drops to test
their nerves,stamina & skill.
Mark Turner continued where he finished the 2009 series taking another win in the juniors with a stunning
time that placed him 9th overall on the day. Cai Illingworth took 2nd with a great time just beating Matthew
Clague into 3rd place followed by Matthew Kermeen & Callum Purved in 4th & 5th place respectively.

Isle of Man DH Tracks Map

It's taken me a while to get around to doing it, but I have now created a map of
the main track locations. I have only marked out the start of the tracks, but once
you're there, it's self explanitory.
If anyone has anything to add, let me know and I will get it updated. I have missed
Ballaspit as it is private property.

Manxuplift.com has arrived, after running a couple of uplift days we have decided
to make things a bit more professional and easier for us to manage. Our next uplift
will be on the 28th Feb, details to be found on the site.
Please note that all bookings for the uplift will be thru this site from now on

The site is not fully functionally as we are still working on the locations
and video threads but this will be sorted soon, any photos or videos from previous
uplifts that anybody has wud be appreciated.

Round 5 - Ballaugh 2

Ok,so sunday at Ballaugh was the final round of the 2009 series. The weather was
sh**e,but i know that most of the riders had such a good days riding,the track was
slippy as slippiness it was getting pretty churned up towards the end,but it was
so much fun!! Typically,saturday was really nice & fairly dry,but sunday was
far from it. A good number of riders turned up to brave the elements & a few
marshalls even braver sitting around in the wind & rain! Most riders managed to
get a few practice runs in,but i dont think it made much difference how many runs
you got in,as the track had different lines & ruts in it each time you went down!

Round 4 - Junior National
03/07/2009
Due to the age restriction, round 4 also became the junior national, so it was
disappointing to see just three junior riders. Finn Cain took a deserved third
place with Cai Illingwoth in second. It was impressive to see how all the young
riders tackled the difficult conditions, however the most impressive rider of
the day was Mark Turner, who not only took first in the junior class, but would
have placed 10th in the senior class.

Downhill Update

As people may be aware or not, myself and russell have been working with DAFF
over the last six months to "legitimise" the DH Scene both races and the social
side of riding in the IOM. We had a meeting last week and have made good progress
and feel the time has arrived to put people in the picture.

Brookdale Update
To Be Confirmed
As some of you may know, work has begun on an access bridge at the bottom of
Brookdale. This COULD mean we are able to race there for Round 5 of the 2009 season.
However, this is not defenite and does not give permission for any building work
to the trails, so please do not jepardise the event for everyone else by doing so.

Tholt-Y-Will 14/06/2009
After 2 years of heartache,Tom Skillicorn finally won the Manx National Downhill
title on sunday at Tholt y Will plantation. Crashes in 2007 & 2008 robbed him
of his chance to be crowned the Manx National Champion,but all that was forgotten
with a clinical display of downhill riding at its very best.

Round 2 went really well. It was a bit hectic to begin with trying to sort time
keepers out & waiting for the commissaire, but in the end we had 2, so hats off to

the seeding and race run being slightly delayed, everything went smoothly. The

Alpine Bikes Winter Series - Round 1
Innerleithen 01/02/2009
As you'll know by now,a few of us went away last weekend to do round 1 of
the Alpine Bikes Winter Series held at Innerleithen. We arrived friday
evening ,headed straight to the track to have a look,walk it see what
awaited us. But to be honest it was fairly dark by that time so we didn't
really get much of a look to check out lines etc... so we headed to the B&B
for tea & a few beers!.
